Altron Communications Equipment Ltd. consists of two divisions - the subcontracting, sheet-metal work fabrication division of Swelco and the product manufacturing division, trading under the Altron name.

As a whole, the company has the ability to produce engineered items from 2 dimensional, intricately profiled components through to complete assembled products, using a wide range of traditional skills coupled with the latest CAD/CAM and machine technology.

The Swelco and Altron organisations merged in 2002 and moved into purpose-built premises in August of that year, retaining laser cutting, punching and warehouse facilities on a separate site.

Between the two sites, covering 7 acres, there is 100,000 square feet of covered production capacity and an extensive office complex.

The Swelco subcontracting division has a proven track record in engineering spanning over 60 years, with skills and a depth of experience that enables complex and high quality finish components to be consistently produced.

Altron is the UK's leading manufacturer of CCTV camera mounting equipment and has 20 years experience in the design, manufacture and supply of structures for CCTV, the communications industry and other associated markets.

Together, the joint capabilities of the company offer an unrivalled ability to produce components through to finished products and the supply of these throughout the UK and overseas. With in-house production of components and a minimum reliance on external suppliers, Swelco/Altron is the competitive source of supply for your component/product requirements. Together we have the design and engineering ability for small batch and prototype production, and the capacity to produce high volumes whilst achieving the minimum lead times required in industry today.

The relationship with our suppliers and the communication here is crucial. When coupled with sufficient stock levels and well maintained and upgraded machinery, enabling a quick response, we are thus able to quote minimum lead times with confidence. Our aim and objective is to achieve a 100% delivery performance.

REINVESTING FOR THE FUTURE
Without reinvestment in new machinery and upgrading existing machinery and processes, Swelco/Altron would fall by the wayside, overtaken by the tide of technological advance. There is an ongoing investment programme across the company to implement the latest technologies and improve systems and processes. This investment programme will, we hope, give our customers confidence in the ability of Swelco/Altron to continue meeting their demands in the coming months and years, in a world where minimum lead times, quality manufacture and competitive pricing are the unsaid expectations.
